The Ely Place team have a vast experience in the secondary market, having advised on the sale of both portfolios of direct assets and fund positions. Clients have included GPs, funds of funds and institutional investors.

Examples of services include:

  • Advising LPs on the sale of fund portfolios. Running processes for LPs to identify the most competitive buyer while retaining anonymity in the market. Prior to a process we can offer advice on potential buyers, and an opinion on the likely demand and price range. We adopt a corporate finance approach to secondary advisory, providing thoughtful strategic advice – we are not simply intermediaries.

  • GP-led secondaries. This includes advising GPs on the raising of continuation vehicles at the end of a fund life, finding the right supportive buyer to replace an LP, or running a tender process to provide liquidity to the fund.

  • Working hand in hand with our placement team, the secondary can often be run in parallel to a fundraise to bring in new capital or to re-build the LP base with those most likely to be supportive of the strategy going forward.

  • Tender process. Identifying the most competitive buyer, supportive of the GP to provide liquidity to LPs.

  • Raising capital for co-investments.
